How about a thread on underrated musicians, or underrated bands most of us might not have experienced. Personally I love discovering new musical talent I missed.

so i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
Witness my fury, I apologise for calling you a believer. I am pleased on the subject of God we can agree.
.....................................
sometimes i I have found continuing this debate quite fearful. To be afraid is to be at someone's mercy. That's why I stayed a witness to long. When I confronted the elders, and my congregation I found I had nothing left to fear. I now have my idea of truth about this world.
Anyway what I do believe is " insult" is the privalige of the powerful. It starts with school teachers and continues with bosses of companies we may work for.We find it in cults when we don't agree. I have found all those I am " underneath" tend to be the ones that insult.Maybe my mind should be on girls, beer and football like the correct citizens most Englishmen are.

Free discussion, is a privalige, it's a shame it comes with " name calling". But it's worth the price in my opinion.
...........................................................
But that wasn't my question Witness my fury. My question was in 2004 when President Bush made his speech " our goal is to return to the moon by "2020" did he not explain why it would take 15years with 21st century tecnology when it took only 8 years to accomplish with 1960s tecnology?
If I was a journalist at that speech it would have been my first question. And I believe an answer that at the time the public would have found informative. Anyway i think we all agree man won't return to the moon before " 2020".

Thank you for your opinion Viv.
Witness my fury :- you called me an attention seeking troll on a much earlier post. I believe this was because you found the subject stupid, and you got emotional and upset as you thought I believed in God. Difference of opinions do not make trolls.
Personally myself and I hope others have learnt a lot from this thread .I am disappointed my previous post, is on another page, as the subject matter is pertinent to the above comments so I have resubmitted that post in a shortened version .
In 2004 former president Bush said " our goal is to return to the moon by 2020"
Why did not Bush mention why it would take fifteen years to do with twenty-first century technology what took only eight years to accomplish with 1960s technology?
Lisa Rose ;- "people will believe what they want to believe"well maybe but,Lisa Rose at this point it would be remiss of me not to thank you for your earlier post in which you constructively pointed out where you thought my O.P and thinking were wrong on this thread.
Personally I think it irrational that worldwide the majority of people believe in a spirit in the sky, and over 50% believe in Ghosts. To me this suggests a large segment of our society is prone to irrational thinking. But I think without " conclusive proof" there is no spirit in the sky, no ghosts these opinions should be respected.
in an earlier post I presented a survey on behalf of E& T technology, that found 1 in 4 don't believe the moon landing happened. I believe the M.D of E&T described the moon landing as one of man kinds greatest technological achievements and therefore alarming 1 in 4 doubted it happened.
EVERY THING SHOULD DEPEND ON FACT, are facts the real problem? Is it not possible to present conclusive proof there is a spirit in the sky?
So people will (can) believe what they want to " surely this is better than loathing there guts, and saying f--k other people's opinion? So instead of loathing people's guts, why not respectfully try to transform a persons understanding. What the hell if I am ignorant on this matter becoming educated is the best part of the experience. Brilliant in fact, to discover my ideas were superfluous and I was ignorant.

LISA ROSE:- " people will believe what they want to believe"
The Rebel:- well then for the sake of argument, let's say I believe the Big Bang actually occurred 13.7 million years ago. ( for the sake of argument let's say, I believe we have the evidence to support the theory) But then look at the % of people who say evolution doesn't exist. In my opinion it would be easy for me to say to those that don't believe in evolution "ignorance is easy, becoming educated is the hard part" As for myself I would rather educate.
Liza Rose at this point it would be remiss of me not to thank you for your earlier post in which you constructively pointed out where you thought my O.P and thinking were wrong on this thread.

Everything should depend on fact, are facts the real problem? Is it not possible to present conclusive proof either way? I believe we have conclusive facts that the world is millions of years old, but we do not have conclusive facts about if there is a " spirit" in the sky.

thanks Viv, at 10 I wanted to be a famous footballer, less than 4 years later a famous enough actor, unfortunately less than 3 years from then I was working for the worlds largest " publishing " house going door to door with my Watchtower. So I regard your " could be a politician " comment, the highest form of compliment. ( I hope I would be remembered in history like Churchill, not Hitler but either way fall of idealism)
Now what statement or election promise should I make to get the country on my side?
How about "in ten years man will land on Mars" That would get the votes and Brittish Nationalisam on my side,And if it's not an " uninformed and inflammortary comment" I might even get elected and re-elected.....if the Russians didn't get there first, that is....
Yes I believe our American posters, have got more passionate on this thread of "Did man land on the moon." That is my opinion.

little help i'd like to pass on from another cult survivor to me.. not jw but a violent, physically captive indian cult.. she says on anger:.
it's the longest lasting emotion with have.. it takes at least 90 seconds for it to run it's course once we stop.a lot can happen in 90 seconds, and some of the most horrible exchanges and actions happen right after the anger first manifests itself.. we're experiencing fantastic results by just going for a very short walk ( 90 seconds out in the yard or other room ) before continuing the conversation.. when my wife and i come back together we can smile, embrace and congratulate each other for avoiding a horrible day.. before it even becomes anger, wait 3-5 seconds before making your reply.
slow it down!!
I have heard it said " The only person who can make you angry, is yourself". Admittedly some people, situations or POSTERS on this site, can make the challenge of staying calm verses anger more challaging.

AFTERTHOUGHTS!
" Don't get fooled again moon Landing"
This post is my observation,
This thread has stirred more passion from our American posters, and it is they who seem most offended and challenged by the question " IF" the moon landing happened. Perhaps that is understandable, because of the speech given by " J.F Kennedy" shortly before his assassination:-
" Man will go to the moon, .........we ( Americans) choose to go to the moon......we choose to go to the MOON IN THIS DECADE"
And Of course that was a great speech, and it may be true " One great step for mankind" but as an individual " counting my steps" or for a poor person in Niger, the money In my opinion whether man went to the moon or not, could have been better spent on mankinds suffering.
But now let me read Nietzshe, " He who has the power has the right". And I believe if that statement is true, all that is human is lost. And yes I am still skeptical man landed on the moon. Not based on science, ( I am no scientist) but based on " He who has the Power has the right to re- write history. (Sitting Bull and Red White and Blue. )
Anyway an astronaut should cross the airspace as if it were his own mind in search of self, and that makes all of us here astronaughts, even if from a practical and scientific vIew like many real " astronaughts" they (we) crashed and (die) died seeking.
The Rebel.
life has been busy, but i am now on 2 weeks vacation which allowed me some thinking room.
and here's what's been on my mind.. we're all going to die.
no matter what we do, our fate is sealed.
I think when one is witness to the effects of old age, and it's many ailments, the realisation that one is going to dies, can become one of " please death before senseless suffering".
HEALTH IS WEALTH ! Make the most of it, if and while you have it. APPRECIATE it daily, it gives a good perspective.

Oubliette, You clearly did say it was a stupid subject to debate. On page 42 of 10 you wrote:-
" It had nothing to do with their age. It is because IT IS A STUPID SUBJECT TO DEBATE! Do you get it now! ( I highlighted it made it BOLD, CAPITALISED AND IN RED)
So you did say, and as I wrote "quite forcefully" that it was a stupid subject to debate.I mention the above, because you bought up rational conversation, which I think brings an interesting concluding thought relevant to this debate:
" MOON LANDING" DABATE AFTERTHOUGHTS?
IT WAS MY OBSERVATION! that this thread stirred more passion from our American posters, and it was they who seemed most offended and challenged by the question of the moon landing having happened. Perhaps that is understandable?
I WOULD APPRECIATE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANY AFTERTHOUGHTS?
OR SHALL WE CLOSE THIS DEBATE?
